The painting depicts the Fourth Mother Goddess of Mountain amidst the vast mountains. She is surrounded by a retinue of twelve goddesses. Below Her are bowing and dancing majestic creatures such as kirin, phoenix, tiger and elephant, along with various mountain and forest deities.
The artwork is crafted using paint on two tole sheets joined together. The painting was commissioned by Kim Liên Pagoda in Kim Hoa Village.
Subsequently, when Kim Liên Pagoda transitioned to statue worship, the family of the artisan Lê Đình Nghiên (son of artisan Lê Đình Liệu) requested the painting to be brought home for preservation.
