The Sixth Courtier of Six Residences is revered by various titles, including the Lady of Six Residences, the Goddess of Six Residences, and the Mother Goddess of Six Residences. She holds a significant position in the hierarchy of the Twelve Courtiers of Four Palaces.
According to legend, the Courtier was born into the mortal realm on the 10th day of the 5th lunisolar month as the daughter of the Trần family. Her father is a tribal chief of the Nùng minority ethnicity in the Lạng Sơn area during the Restored Later Lê era. Growing up, She blossomed into a talented and compassionate young belle, always ready to assist those in need. However, the time eventually came for Her mortal journey to conclude. She went onto the peak of a mountain all alone and ascended back to heaven.
Later, She returned to her birthplace as a divine goddess, assuming the role of protector and bestower of blessings upon the region. She imparts invaluable wisdom to Her people, guiding them in the pursuit of goodness and steering them away from evil. Additionally, she teaches essential knowledge on farming and husbandry, empowering her community with the skills necessary for a prosperous life.
The Courtier is among the deities who usually grant thanh đồng permission to serve their reflections during a hầu bóng ceremony. To honor her divine manifestation, the thanh đồng adorns themselves in a traditional attire of blue, indigo, or purple dress, with a turban. They carry a bamboo basket on their shoulders and keep a small knife at their waist.
The primary shrine dedicated to the Sixth Courtier of Six Residences is situated in Chín Tư hamlet, Hòa Lạc commune, Hữu Lũng district, Lạng Sơn. This location holds great significance, as it is believed to be the birthplace of the Courtier and the site of Her first divine appearance.
